MOT questions
How much is an MOT?+
£45 for cars and light vans (Class 4), whether you book online, by phone or walk in.
How early can I get my MOT done?+
Up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out, and you keep the same renewal date. Book early and you lose nothing.
How long does an MOT take?+
Usually 45 minutes to an hour. You’re welcome to wait in our customer waiting area.
What happens if my car fails?+
We’ll show you exactly what failed and give you a price to fix it. We only go ahead once you agree.
Is the retest free?+
If you leave the car with us for repairs and it’s retested within 10 working days, the partial retest is free.
What are advisories?+
Things that passed but are wearing and will need attention soon. We’ll explain which are urgent and which can wait.
Can I drive with an expired MOT?+
Only to a pre-booked MOT test, or to have repairs done to fix a failure. Otherwise it’s illegal and can invalidate your insurance.
When does a new car need its first MOT?+
When it’s three years old. You can check any car’s MOT due date and history free on GOV.UK.
Do you test vans?+
Yes, light vans up to 3,000kg are Class 4, which we test.

How long does a service take?+
Most services are done within a few hours. We’ll give you a time when you drop off.
How often should I service my car?+
We advise a Bronze service every 12 months or 10,000 miles, a Silver every 24 months or 20,000 miles, and a Gold every 36 months or 30,000 miles. Not sure? Ask us.
Can I wait while my car is done?+
Yes. We have a customer waiting area, so for an MOT or a Bronze service you can wait while we work.
Do you offer courtesy cars?+
We don’t, but we’ll always try to fit the work in so you’re back on the road the same day.
